Why travelling can help you find your life purpose

As each year draws to a close, it can be easy to let yourself dwell on all the things you didn’t get done this year.  First off, give yourself a break! You work hard, and you deserve some fun.  To help you get ready for an exciting, productive new year, Asuaire Travel has compiled a list of all the amazing ways in which travelling can help you find your life purpose.

1. Travelling completely breaks you out of your routine.

We’re not saying routine is a bad thing; on the contrary, where would any of us be without ours? That said, it can be easy to let ourselves fall so deep into our routine that we start to feel bored and unfulfilled.

Give your system an occasional shock by breaking out of your rut and exploring a new city, country, or island. Spend a week or two in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, where your day-to-day begins each morning with a big bowl of fresh fruit, the sound of howler monkeys at your window, a yoga class and a stroll along the beach.

2. When you travel, you learn what you love.

It’s always good to try new things, so you can figure out what you really love and, just as importantly, what you’d really love to never try again.

When you travel you have no choice but to experience new food, activities, transportations… Take some time to learn what makes you happy, and you’ll know what to aspire to every day of your life!

3. It’s the best excuse to do absolutely nothing.

In today’s busy times, it can be hard to let ourselves really give in to relaxation — but it’s totally necessary once in a while.

Leave your troubles at home, get out into the best places to visit in Central America,  and spend some time doing something you really love: relaxing.  Live in the moment and don’t worry about a thing. This is “pura vida” — pure life in Costa Rica!

4. Travelling exposes you to options you didn’t even know were out there.

The best part about travelling is that you get to learn about other cultures, meet new people, and broaden your horizons.

Who knows? You might happen upon a new hobby you didn’t know you’d like, like birdwatching, scuba diving, practicing yoga, The Costa rica Surf, or a project you just needed inspiration for like a cookbook of Central American cuisine, inspired by authentic cooking from Guatemala; or a career path you didn’t think you’d ever get the chance to take, who said you couldn’t be a lifeguard, or a watercolorist? The possibilities are endless!

5. You face your fears and get out of your comfort zone.

Fear is tricky; it can easily control us if we let it.  But we know the secret to success: don’t let it!

Get out of your comfort zone and go zip-lining through Monteverde Cloud Forest, or climb to the top of Acatenango Volcano in Guatemala.  Even just shedding your shy exterior and meeting a couple of new people one night can be revitalizing for your soul.

6. Travelling reminds us to be thankful for what we have.

Visiting new places where the culture is vastly different from our own can offer some much-needed perspective.  Spending time in a town with dirt roads may give you a new appreciation for your paved highways, and a slow or non-existent Internet connection proves how much more valuable it can be to witness a sunset rather than Instagram it.  Humans can be unnecessarily extravagant; it turns out we don’t need all that much to be healthy and happy.
