1. Be mindful.

It’s important to be aware of your surroundings and behave appropriately, whether in public or private spaces. Especially while out in nature, try not to make too much noise that could disturb the wildlife, and stay on designated walking paths, which are designed to protect both you and the environment.

2. Watch how you’re using natural resources.

This basically means simply turning the lights off when you’re not in a room, and trying to utilize just as much water as you need without wasting it.

3. Cut down on plastic.

They can be difficult to avoid, but do your best to reject single-use plastic items such as straws and plastic bags.  Whenever possible, separate your recyclables and dispose of them appropriately.

4. Support local businesses.

A good goal to have no matter where you are.  Local businesses contribute immeasurably to their communities, so try to support them whenever you can, be it dining or souvenir shopping.

Apart from being beneficial to the community, eating and shopping local ensures you have the most authentic experience.

5. Do your part.

Don’t you always feel great after you do something nice for someone?  A great way to give back is to seek out volunteer programs, of which there are tons in Central America that do amazing things.  You could help plant trees, or watch over baby sea turtles and help them get to the ocean. If you’re interested in volunteer work, you can contact Asuaire Travel directly for more information!

Helping the environment helps all of us.  This is the only home we have, and it is our duty to protect it.
