DAY 1

San José

San José is the political, economic, and social capital of Costa Rica. Although not many people live in the city (Less than 30,000 inhabitants), almost two million people go across it every day.

The city is immersed in the GAM “Great Metropolitan Area” where several towns of the Central Valley join.

More than two-thirds of the Costa Rican population live in this part of Costa Rica.

A walk along the boulevard of Central Avenue will take you to the roots of Costa Rica and to the heart of its modern life.

You can start by visiting the National, Jade and Gold Museums and their fantastic samples of pre-Columbian history, then pass by the National Theater, icon of culture and art; walk around the numerous squares and parks where you will see at any time people gather and enjoy beautiful buildings such as the Post Office of Costa Rica.

You cannot miss the Central Market, which will give you a genuine glimpse into the way of being of the Tico. A mosaic of small shops ranging from magical herbs and powders to fresh fish and live chickens. Don’t forget to try the typical food restaurants and delicious fruit smoothies.

Airport Assistance

When you arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport, our delegate from the Costa Rican Chamber of Tourism will be waiting for you as you leave the Immigration Control, to show you how to find your Asuaire driver, who, duly identified, is waiting for you at the exit to take you to the hotel.

DAY 2

Tortuguero

The Tortuguero National Park, located in the Northern Caribbean of Costa Rica, also contains several rainforest ecosystems with rich biodiversity, dozens of kilometers of beach and sea to which thousands of sea turtles arrive every year to lay their eggs.

It is a destination with minimal access (Can only be reached by water or air) and whose natural wealth will make you enjoy the rainforest, its landscapes, and abundant wildlife.

Your Tortuguero transportation and guide will arrive at your hotel early to begin this nature adventure in Costa Rica.

They will take you through the enormous Braulio Carrillo Park, on a road where it is worth having your eyes open to see its incredible canyons, its diverse forests and a large number of waterfalls, some falling to the side of the road.

Once on the other side of the Central Volcanic Range, you will reach the Caribbean plains and the Guapiles region, where you will have a delicious typical breakfast.

Finishing your meal, you will return to the vehicle that will take you back through pineapple, ornamental, and banana plantations to the Pavona Pier, where you can stretch your legs while waiting for your boat to be ready.

On the boat trip, you will begin the adventure by entering one of the many canals in the area until you reach your hotel in Tortuguero.

Make sure you have your camera with battery, and a sound memory chip as the views of the National Park are breathtaking.

When you arrive, a fresh fruit cocktail awaits you with the hotel manager, who will give you your room key, some instructions and the indications to find the restaurant for your lunch.

In the afternoon you have the option to go across the Tortuguero River and visit the small town of the same name. A small village whose primary characteristic is the total absence of streets, automobiles, or traffic signs.

In the Tortuguero town, you can get to know the lifestyle of the area, the small turtle museum and the beach where the huge turtles dig their nests.

DAY 3

Tortuguero

This day you will enjoy the nature of Tortuguero, its impressive biodiversity and learn with your naturalist guide the secrets of the rainforest.

Beyond that, we invite you to open your senses. Tortuguero is a paradise for any nature lover. A sanctuary where “pure life” is more than a famous saying and describes at its core this complex labyrinth of jungle and canals.

You will be surprised, because in addition to the abundant wildlife that your guide will show you (some species so mimetized that it will be difficult to see them), the landscapes are almost surreal, with perfect water reflections, the trees covered up to the roots with vines, and the immense amount of shades of green that you will see.

The rest of the day is at your leisure to rest by the pool, explore the gardens and surrounding jungle or book one of the many optional activities that the hotel offers.

If your stay takes place between July and September, we recommend you to organize the night tour to see the turtles nesting (Additional cost). This tour can only be arranged on the same day, no cameras of any kind (including cell phones) and clothes and shoes must be black or very dark.

*The schedules and the order of the activities are defined by the guide the first day depending on the weather conditions and the behavior of the animals.

La Fortuna, the closest town to the National Park, is a small town, where you can find everything you need: supermarkets, pharmacies, laundries, banks and restaurants of all kinds and budgets.

This morning you will be at your leisure to enjoy the last moments in the fascinating North Caribbean.

After breakfast and mid-morning, your boat will take you back to La Pavona pier, where the bus will take you back to the restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch.

Trips through Costa Rica always ensure a variety of landscapes almost unique to such a small country. Enjoy the views of Arenal Lake and the surrounding forests, the picturesque roadside villages and the beautiful view of the Gulf of Nicoya at different points during the day.

You will also notice the change in ecosystems, especially if you are traveling in the months of the dry season.
