At the airport you will find one of our representatives who will help you with your luggage and transfer to the hotel. You’ll receive a welcome packet with details of your itinerary and a private vehicle will take you to your hotel.
After breakfast, your rental car will be delivered to the hotel so you can make your way to León. Along the way you’ll be able to enjoy impressive views of the Lake of Managua and the Momotombo Volcano. The estimated time from Managua to León is about 2 hours and 15 minutes, a distance of 100 km or 62 miles. In the afternoon your guide will be waiting in the lobby of your hotel to begin a tour of this charming city.
After breakfast, your guide and driver will be waiting in the lobby to begin the trip to the Cerro Negro Volcano. The hike to the top will be along more than one rocky path; your guide will stop occasionally to give some information about the area and to take a short break. At the top you’ll have a view of the crater and experience some strong winds. The descent will be much quicker, running and jumping along the sandy path of the volcano with a sandboard. At the end of this activity you’ll return to the city of León where you can enjoy the colonial city at your own pace.
After breakfast, you’ll drive from León to an area of mixed vegetation in the mountainous region of Nicaragua. The city of Matagalpa is one of the major producers of coffee, and along the way you’ll spot a number of coffee processing plants. The road snakes uphill towards your destination.
Free day at the cottage. Feel free to explore the farm on your own, the paths and the rural area — this destination is also great for birdwatching.
Breakfast. During your return trip to the Pacific zone, you’ll notice the climatic differences of the region. On the way to your next destination, the Masaya Volcano National Park, you’ll be able to get close to the edges of the crater and see the lava lake and gas emissions that rise through the Santiago. After this fascinating visit you’ll continue on to the white villages of Catarina, known for its decorative plants, and San Juan de Oriente, famous for its ceramic crafts. In the afternoon you will arrive at the colonial city of Granada.
Breakfast. On this day your guide will be waiting in the lobby to take you to the Mombacho volcano, a natural reserve in a cloud forest with a path around one of the craters. The hike around the crater can take around an hour and a half. Afterwards, you’ll descend and head back to Granada and to the yellow cottage marina where you’ll take a boat ride around Lake Nicaragua and see some of its 360 small islets — a great chance to see birds and island-dwellers practicing an artisanal style of fishing.
Departing early towards the small port of San Jorge, located on the great Nicaragua Lake. The ferry will transfer you and your car to the island of Ometepe. Along the route to Charco Verde you’ll pass by a number of colorful towns such as Moyogalpa, the largest in the city, where you can observe the daily life of its inhabitants.
After breakfast, you can explore the island. You’ll then travel back to the capital city of Managua, taking any route you’d like. You’ll have time to visit the old Cathedral of Managua as well as the buildings found in the Revolution Plaza and its recently restored port.
Breakfast. According to your itinerary you’ll make your way to the airport in your rented vehicle, allowing enough time to return the rental before boarding your flight home.
