For International Surfing Day, I want to share with you my personal list of the best surfing beaches in Costa Rica.

I have been been practicing this sport for 7 years now and it’s definitely what fills me with joy the most. Whenever I have the opportunity to travel to the beach and disconnect from the city life and feel the waves of the ocean, I’ll do it.

Surfing helps me release stress, this is one of the main reasons why I am so passionate about surfing. Especially at dawn where there is fewer people, wind and sun on the beaches. I enjoy not just the best waves, but feel an intense connection with nature.

Among the best surfing beaches in Costa Rica these are my top six favorite:

Contenido

1. Playa Naranjo

Popularly known as “Witch’s Rock” because of the rocky island located right off the coast. During the month of December the famous trade winds arrive to Costa Rica and form perfect waves for surfing in this part of the country.

2. Avellanas
