When you mention holiday spots in Costa Rica, most people think about Arenal, Monteverde, or Manuel Antonio. While these are hotspots that can’t be left off your list, here we’ll share a few more breath-taking places to unwind and enjoy the pleasures of solitude.

  • The Corcovado National Park (Parque Corcovado)

This park was open for the first time in 1975 and it is located on the Southern Pacific Coast of the country in the Osa Peninsula. The Corcovado National Park has been referred as the “most biologically intense place on Earth” by National Geographic, but once you are here, you will witness a wildlife paradise that will take your breath away.

This site, has become one of the most famous eco-tourism destinies in Costa Rica, surrounded of dessert beaches, natural waterfalls, and jungle with more than 500 different species of trees and other type of flora. It will be the perfect place for a hike lover!

  • San Gerardo de Dota

Considered a haven for bird watching, this hidden jewel is at the foot of Chirripó National Park. San Gerardo de Dota is a mountain town surrounded by a mystic rushing river and forested hills. It hosts 200 species of birds including quetzals, tanagers, hummingbirds and woodpeckers.

This is a peaceful place for a morning hike, and as an extra bonus, it has a beautiful hidden waterfall at the end of the trail.

  • Nauyaca

Costa Rica has quite a few magnificent waterfalls—Nauyaca being the most spectacular with two sets of falls that are 61 metres long combined.

To access these waterfalls, take a 4 kilometres hike; if you are silent and keep an eye out you will find plenty of wildlife along the trail. The trail is moderately difficult, but the reward is worth it: the Nauyaca Waterfalls.

  • Celeste River (Río Celeste)

There is a legend telling that one day God, tired of painting the sky put his brush into a river, tinting it’s waters with the same color… That’s how Celeste River was born. The truth is you will think you are in heaven as soon as you start feeling the peaceful and relaxing vibe of the site.

Celeste River is located in the skirts of Tenorio Volcano in Guatuso of Alajuela, at the national park. In the National Park Tenorio Volcano you will find more than just waterfalls; you may expect thermal waters, beautiful landscapes, wildlife watching and more!

  • Nosara

The Nosara area in Costa Rica is unique and peaceful. What started as a residential project over 30 years ago has now become one of the most attractive places in the Pacific and the country at large. Nosara’s beaches combine jungle and shoreline, a marvellous combination for those souls who like surfing, adventure, and a relaxing time. The best beaches in the area are Nosara, Guiones, and Pelada.

Playa Guiones is ideal for surfing, but Playa Pelada is known for its marine life and the beautiful rocks that adorn the landscape. Sounds amazing, right? Nosara, with its nature, wonderful views, and no over-populated zones is the perfect destination for your long-term vacation.
