Overview

Snorkeling in Marino Ballena National Park will take you to the second most diverse marine life site after Caño Island in Costa Rica’s South Pacific.

This national park encompasses 5,400 marine hectares and has the largest coral reef on the Pacific coast of Central America, enjoying 18 varieties of coral.

Among what you may see are parrotfish, pink spotted snapper, hawksbill and leatherback turtles, Pacific snapper, butterflyfish, and Pacific manta rays; also, a wide variety of seafloor creatures such as sea urchins, sand dollars, sea cucumbers, and starfish.

The tour starts at Playa Uvita, where your guides will give you the life jacket and some simple instructions on the trip before taking the roofed boat that will get you to the places chosen for the experience of snorkeling in the Marino Ballena National Park.

The boat trip along the South Pacific coast of Costa Rica is simply amazing, the forested mountains and endless beaches on the shore will give you some unforgettable views.

You may visit the Tres Hermanas isles, the reefs of Ballena Island, and the Punta Uvita Ballena Point.

You will observe the terrestrial formations of the Tres Hermanas isles and the Ballena island’s permanent inhabitants: the green iguanas and the brown booby.

Also, and depending on the time of year, you may see humpback whales, several species of dolphins, huge sea turtles, giant manta rays, and an incredible variety of sea birds.

Also, you will visit the Ventanas’ Caves, an experience with breathtaking natural landscapes.
