Sky Tram, Sky Trek & Sky Walk in Monteverde will give you an ideal combination of sensations ranging from expectation to amazement.
Ziplining through the forest began in Costa Rica; during the ’90s, as biologists researching the upper part of the jungle (where 80% of the species live and move) found zip lining to be a practical and fast method to cross from tree to tree by cables.
Then someone thought that the experience itself was worth the investment and “Canopy Tours” began to take place all over Costa Rica and then the world.
Sky Adventures has a high-volume operation. Being Costa Ricans and from the Monteverde area, they have their own cloud forest reserve, and some of the longest and tallest cables in the country.
Besides, they have vast experience in the operation of tours; therefore, all the gear, cables, bridges, platforms, and trails are in continuous maintenance, and all their guides are tested and certified.
Its system of harnesses and pulleys is among the safest guaranteeing that your only concern will be to enjoy every moment.
The tour begins as you board the vehicle that will take you to the nearby area of the Santa Elena Reserve, 6 kilometers from the town of the same name.
Sky Trek
The Sky Trek consists of 8 cables that combined reach up to 1.8 miles (3 km) with heights ranging from 49 to 150 meters and distances of 40 to 750 meters.
Sky Trek will give you breathtaking views from its two observation towers from which, on a clear day, you may see the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean plains.
The Sky Trek tour lasts approximately 2 hours. The maximum weight allowed for Sky Trek is 217 lbs.
Sky Tram
The Sky Tram goes up to a beautiful cloud forest peak and allows you to stop along the way to see plant and animal life and to learn from an experienced naturalist.
The tram takes approximately 20 minutes to reach a lookout point. If you do not continue with the Sky Trek zip line tour, you will return by the tram.
This activity is required for those that want to do the Sky Trek ziplining tour
Sky Walk
An excellent opportunity to enjoy the cloud forest flora at a slower pace. Suspension bridges vary in length, and each offers a different view of the canopy.
You’ll find bridges up to 236 meters (774 feet) in length and heights up to 70 meters (230 feet). And just as the Sky Trek will allow you to fly through the forest, the bridges will show you the secrets of the ecosystem, the creatures that live in it and their interactions.
Note:
Sky Adventures recommends long pants. The shorts are also fine, but the harness is tight around the legs and waist, so it is better to protect the crotch.
Sky Adventures will provide you with rain ponchos if necessary; however, we also recommend you bring yours. Also, if you have long hair, bring something to tie it (It’s dangerous to tangle it with cables).
It is important to know that ordinary cameras are not allowed on this tour, but you can bring a GoPro. This tour is not recommended for people with convulsions, osteoporosis, recent surgeries, asthma, dizziness problems, fainting, heart conditions, any ailment at the time of the tour, or pregnant women.
