1. Playa Ventanas

Located in Bahía Ballena, or “Whale Bay”, Playa Ventanas is a hidden gem of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast.  The beach is small and tranquil, and also features a beautiful ocean cave that you can venture into when the tide is low.  Impressive! Right?

2. Playa Blanca

Just an hour and a half outside of San José, this is one of the prettiest white sand beaches in the country. Playa Blanca is the perfect size for a short walk on the beach or resting under a palm tree, it is also an ideal place for snorkeling, birdwatching and family fun.

Be sure to bring binoculars because you’ll probably spot some scarlet macaws flying by!

3. Playa Junquillal

Another unknown beauty of a beach, is Bahía Junquillal, a great spot for the beach relaxation you keep wanting to do. Junquillal also has a picturesque lookout, the best spot to take all the pictures of your tropical trip in paradise you need to make your friends jealous!

4. Playa Barrigona

Perfect for the adventurous, Playa Barrigona in Nosara is only accessible in a 4×4 vehicle.  Once you’ve made it, you’ll be astounded by the constant stream of perfect surfing waves on this immense hidden white sand beach.

5. Playa Chiquita

True to its name, Playa Chiquita is small and nestled into the South Caribbean coast.  Because of being less crowded than other beaches in Puerto Viejo, its water is calm, cool, and replete with coral to admire.

We highly recommend renting a bicycle and taking a ride to the beauty of Playa Chiquita!

6. Playa Hermosa, Santa Teresa

At one end of the town of Santa Teresa lies Playa Hermosa, a quiet, peaceful paradise great to watch the sunset from.

7. Playa Esterillos

This humongous dark sand beach is just two hours from San José. Esterillos is the perfect place for your daily walk, during which you will be lucky enough to see monkeys, iguanas and even scarlet macaws flying over you.

Be sure to stay for the sunset; if the tide is low you’ll see the sky mirrored in the sand, a real impressive spectacle!

8. Playa Grande

This Guanacaste beach is truly heaven on earth, it has the softest white sand, the best free surf show you’ll ever see and the perfect place for a family trip.

Try to visit during turtle-nesting season (between October and March) and take the nighttime tour; bioluminescence  shimmering in the sand at night is something you won’t want to miss either.

9. Playa Avellanas

This serene, shady beach is a great place for a swim in the sea and family picnic.  But the main attraction of Playa Avellanas is a long wooden bridge hidden among mangroves, which very few know of.

Plan your trip with Asuaire Travel and we will share with you more tips and secrets of this beautiful place!

10. Playa Carrillo

The most beautiful attraction of Playa Carrillo are the thousands of green and yellow palm trees bordering the coast, a place to rest in the shade and enjoy the sounds of the tropical paradise in Costa Rica.
