Monteverde Horseback Riding is a fantastic experience. Riding on open pasture areas, and rainforest trails will give you a glimpse of how it was like to live in this area in the old days when the Quakers arrived.
You will visit a private reserve (As none of the known protected areas of Monteverde allows horses in the trails) very close to the Continental Divide, where the luscious green landscapes will combine with breathtaking views of the nearby mountain ranges and on clear days, the Arenal volcano and lake from the distance.
You may also have the chance to see wildlife. Several species of birds, like toucans, parrots, motmots and hummingbirds, as well as mammals like monkeys, coatimundis, agouti pacas, sloths, and peccaries.
A Monteverde Horseback Riding experience will additionally give you a glimpse of the rural life of the area, and depending on the time of day, you may delight in dramatic sunset skies or the usual afternoon rainbows of Monteverde.
None of the tours require previous experience with horseback riding. Horses are well treated and well behaved and they know what to do. You will feel easily comfortable. Although, if you are an experienced rider, please let us know beforehand as the horses are meant to give a pleasant ride and not to gallop.
All saddles are equipped with safety helmets.
