Located in the Department of Petén, in northern Guatemala, Uaxactún was one of the first Mayan archaeological sites excavated in the area known as the Mayan lowlands.
Uaxactún is a Maya site, located about 25 km north of Tikal, in Petén, Guatemala. Its name in antiquity was Siaan K’aan, that means Born of the Sky.
